Recycling Bin
To ensure paper and containers do not blow away in high winds, please place containers in the bin and put your paper, in a paper grocery bag, on top of the bin.
Residents have the option of using recycling collection containers other than the County-provided bin. These bins must be clearly marked with a "R" and must be no larger than 25 gallons in size and weigh no more than 35 pounds when full.
Additional and replacement bins may be purchased at cost from the Solid Waste Management Division office.
Please Note:
- NO PLASTIC BAGS!!!!!
- Improperly prepared recyclables or unacceptable materials will be left in your bin with a Whoops! notice explaining why.
- Recycling pickup schedules and set-out times are listed in the Collection Schedule. If your recyclables are picked up on the same day as your trash, place your bin at least two feet from the trash so your hauler can easily see your recycling bin.
- Apartment dwellers: Persons living in apartment buildings with ten (10) or more units should contact their building managers about recycling options.
- Global Positioning System (GPS): GPS is currently used on contracted recycling vehicles and will assist in determining the areas where trucks did and did not travel. The system will also tell us what time the vehicle was at a stop.
- Additional materials, accepted only at the RSWC include: textiles, sneakers, fluorescent lighting bulbs/tubes and CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lights), yard waste, scrap metal, appliances and auto batteries, computers, household hazardous waste (HHW), and refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
