In Tompkins County, residents and businesses have a variety of waste reduction, recycling and disposal services that are offered by Tompkins County Solid Waste Management Division (TCSWMD) and at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC).

Permits & Fees 


Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

The Tompkins County Solid Waste Management Division (TCSWMD) offers a permanent location to accept HHW from Tompkins County residents and qualified businesses and organizations that are Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG). Material is accepted at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center's D.E.P.O.T.


USDA Grant - Rural Waste Reduction and Recycling
A manual and video that are intended to aid recycling coordinators in providing waste reduction and recycling assistance to rural mobile home parks and apartment complexes.


EPA Grant - 4Rs in Tompkins County Schools

This grant project was designed to increase waste diversion rates in Tompkins County schools by providing support to implement and enhance waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and green purchasing (rebuy) initiatives in Tompkins County schools.

Catalog Choice - Mail Preference Service

Tompkins County is sponsoring this service to help eliminate the waste and clutter of unwanted mail and phone books in your home, office and neighborhood.
